# OpenVPN mss\_fix option not pushable?

I’m sorting out some connectivity issues people are having and tried setting the MSS MTU option in the server settings but in the client logs I’m seeing an error:

2026-03-17 19:32:58 us=546000 Options error: option ‘mssfix’ cannot be used in this context ([PUSH-OPTIONS])

Is this no longer an option to send to clients?

That option actually shouldn’t have been added to the pushed options. It will be removed in the next released. This shouldn’t prevent the connection from working. If there are connectivity issues it’s likely unrelated to that error.

The Pritunl Client configuration sync will still sync the MTU options. It’s not recommended to set MSS Fix. If you have the newer server release leave MSS MTU and Fragment MTU empty and set Tunnel MTU to 1300. Yeah the connection worked I just noticed the new MTU wasn’t applied. I set Tun MTU instead and will see how it goes. Thanks
