Pritunl through nginx

Hi, I’m new here so sorry if my post isn’t relevant, please correct my mistakes

I currently have a NGINX server running on a local Ubuntu machine serving as a reverse proxy to port 80 and 443. The NGINX server also has SSL certificates through certbot.
I am now interested in installing a Pritunl server, but online i have read that port 80 needs to be available to the Pritunl server for SSL certificates. To clarify: I do not need the Pritunl web interface open with SSL, just the VPN. Does the VPN portion of Pritunl even require an SSL certificate to be encrypted?

Thank you in advance for your support!
